Use configuration positions as animation positions

Users should be able to use part positions defined in a configuration for part positions while defining an animation in the Advanced Assembly module.  Currently configurations cannot be set active while the animation editor is open and the animation editor cannot be opened while a configuration is active.

I agree! It seems to be much easier to get parts positioned using configurations then with animations, so it would be easier to create animations this way. Plus, configurations have many other uses, so they may already be set up when you need to create an animation (which is usually toward the end of the design).

Would it be sufficient if the position of a given configuration is used only initially when defining an animation? That means if the configuration is changed later the animation is not affected?

Yes that would be sufficient.  The idea is only that a user could capture positions from a configuration while defining animation steps.

I agree, there doesn't have to be a link to the configuration position(s).
