In Pro/Creo Elements 5.0, if you have the belwo option set:
...you cannot use ALT characters in feature tree names, because the alt key is used to switch between windows. Switch windows control to ctrl+tab, as is common in most other programs.
Also, please try to sort out the window order so that inactive Pro/E windows don't keep jumping to the top of the pile.
