Variable Chamfers like Variable Rounds

Variable Chamfers like Variable Rounds

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

Valuable for all industries.  Would be useful for anyone needing to create a tapered edge break for rotating interlocking features, where variable clearances on edge breaks are required and or could be used for balancing rotating parts.

2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running?

Currently not available in Creo 8

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

Currently you need to create a curve trajectory on a surface, then create a variable sweep cut, select the trajectory and sketch the angled surface to be removed. Then to show the dimensions on a drawing you have to show dimensions for 2 features.  2 different variable chamfers shown in image

4. What is the use case for your organization?

These are created weekly and will reduce time from idea to final part.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
It will make creating variable chamfers possible with one feature and very few clicks significantly reducing time both in modeling and creating the corresponding drawing.
