When a Component is Activated in an Assembly, Show Datums only for that Component

When a Component is Activated in an Assembly, Show Datums only for that Component

When modifying a component in an assembly context, I RMB, Activate the component. If I then click the Show Datum Planes icon, for example, all the datum planes throughout the whole assembly, that are not on a hidden layer, show up. It would be more convenient if only the datum features within the Activated part were shown.

Ideally, this behaviour would be controlled using a config option, so that external datum references could be selected when using Top-Down Design, for example.

This should apply to all kinds of datum features, including Points, Axes, CSYS and any others you can think of.

If this is already the case in CP2, I promise I am working on the upgrade!

Still on WF4, here, M220, where is not the case, as far as I know.

Please vote up if you think it would help.

Yes, I do know about controlling datum features using rule-based layers.

This would just make things easier and therefore better.

In summary, then, the idea is:

Add a Config Option to switch the Datum Features that are shown in an assembly when a component is Activated.

Set to 1 to show only the datum features in the Activated component.

Set to 0 to show all the datum features throughout the assembly.

I think better way of doing this is when you select placeholder for constraining part you are placing, only his datums are shown and when selecting assembly reference placeholder then assy datums are seen and inserting part ones are hidden. See pic.

How does one select "Placeholder"?

Don't bury in the config options.  Sometimes you need to see the other datums.  A check box in the ribbon would be much more useful.

Layers do work well for me.  The layers for the active part are also active in the layer tree.  You also have the option to open the part in a separate window if you do not need reference the other parts.

I also think it would be useful if none of the other component entities could be mistakenly selected when picking references in an activated component. However, I would like to retain being able to measure to other components in that mode.

Interesting idea. We will review if we can add this to the short term roadmap.
