'Zoom through' like Autodesk Inventor

'Zoom through' like Autodesk Inventor

I would like to see Creo's "Perspective View" have similar functionality to that of Autodesk Inventor. In Inventor, the user is able to zoom through model geometry while being able to utilize other commands (ie. analysis). Here is an example of how this functionality is very useful:

Imagine you have a large assembly like an automoblie and you would like to measure the distance between the piston and the cylinder wall within the engine. In Inventor, you would just select "Perspective View" and then zoom into the engine assembly until you have reached the cylinders. You would be looking at the geometry broken away and easily select the OD of the piston and the ID of the cylinder wall.

Without the zoom through functionality, you have to do one of the following:

  • search for and activate the specific assemblies/models in question
  • hide all of the components in the way
  • right-click and toggle through a long list of features (sometimes guessing its the right feature)

In most cases, all of these options are far less efficient than zooming through as described above. Dynamic analysis is better than multiple static setups. Less clicks are better than more.

Please consider adding this functionality to Creo in the very near future. It would be a big help in staying competitive.

Thank you!
