We draw kinematic skeleton assemblies to describe a linkage system with fixed pivot points, constant member lengths, and one actuator. This skeleton pushes data forward into downstream component models. The length of the actuating member changes, and during development, so do the fixed points and lengths. I use copied dependent sketches with varied items and vary the actuator member length to show the system in various states of travel- this is quicker and much more efficient than drawing a new system and constraining it to parent members. When you modify the parent (copied) sketch creo automatically changes the name of the children sketches to "Copied Sketch ##" This makes the model tree cluttered and disorganized as the children sketches should have names describing the system's state.    How I would like my model tree to look:   How it looks after updating parent sketch "MASTER_KINEMATIC"     3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it. I am currently adding a note to the sketch to keep it organized in the model tree    4. What is the use case for your organization? It would be interesting to have a command that analyzes the regeneration process highlighting which points are the slowest. Suggesting to the operator how to optimize the regeneration process. Regeneration will fail if 'regeneration values' of 'Mechanisms' conflict, even in different levels of the assembly 3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it. Not really a decent workaround. We're using the 'enable regeneration value' option when making the drawing. When the drawing is released, we disable it again. Snapshots isn't a proper solution as they are position and not constraint based. Changing the components doesn't update the snapshots. 4. What is the use case for your organization? Describe how your idea would work in context or how it would apply to a practical situation. We're using mechanisms to represent cylinders, hinges, linear actuators,... on their correct position. We're also using mechanisms to make simple moving elements movable to quickly check for collisions.   Idea: When regenerating, the algorithm should ignore the 'enable regeneration value' of subassemblies if this is necessary to satisfy boundaries of regeneration values in the top assembly   Application: - Cylinders, hinges, and subassemblies can get a proper regeneration position to make a nice representation on drawings or when opened individually. - Assemblies can still satisfy their mechanism constrains. - No unclear errors when a component has regeneration value enabled... 5. Sometimes I want to rep out assembly features.  For example, holes that are added at the assembly level rather than the part level.  In particular, I'm working on a piece of tooling that's located by pilot holes and used to aid a match drilling operation that results in larger holes.  The larger holes are shown in the assembly.  If I don't want to show the larger holes, I have to drop the child part into my sandbox assembly, resulting in redundant copies of that part. 4. As described above we migrated our organization from SolidEdge to Creo and missing certain "basic" functions which were available there. One of the features we are missing is the "Quick view cube" which was available there.     A simple cube in any corner, rotating with the displayed model. When clicking on the cube, the view oriented as selected, so in above example it would then orient to the Front view. 4. What is the use case for your organization? Especially in bigger assemblies you are quickly lost how you are looking right now at the model or you just want to very quick orient it in a certain manner, e.g. looking at an angle of 45° at the back top edge.   Here you see all the available options: 5. Development of yarn winding, processing and handling machines. We work a lot with sheetmetal, often using inserts. 2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running? Creo 9.0.2 Windchill 12.1.2.0 3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video. A sheetmetal part cannot have representations or a family table. This makes it impossible to produce a flat instance or flat representation. This makes it impossible to add a flat state to a drawing. 4. What is the use case for your organization? In our ERP system, we assign a partnumber to a bend part, with its inserts and paint. The reason we do this, is to minimise administration during the seperate steps and because inserts are often inserted in the flat state. We're currently switching from Modeling. In modeling we solved this by adding the inserts in a 'container'. Since Parametric doesn't have containers, we would resort to an inseperable assemblies. An assembly, (representing the finished part with inserts and paint) would hold an embedded component,(the sheetmetal part) and the inserts. This seems to meet all our demands, except for the flat state, which we cannot put on drawing... 5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization? Our work around is using a seperate partnumber for the sheetmetal part, leaving several opportunities for mistakes as assemblies and parts can be mismatched during check-out, copying, release,... ... Unable to use the "Feat Name" parameter in Creo Parametric for 2D or 3D annotation. 3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it. No known work-around.  Interested in any options that are available. 4. What is the use case for your organization? Describe how your idea would work in context or how it would apply to a practical situation. "Feat Name" is an assembly-level parameter, so it is applied to different instances of the same component in an assembly.  Once checked-in, the "Feat Name" value from the CAD is applied to the "Component Name" attribute of the CAD Doc object (when looking at the assembly structure).  If a Design Part is linked to the CAD Doc, the same value will be propagated to the "Reference Designator" attribute on the Design Part. This is good for CAD and Windchill structure, but there is no capability to add the value the the CAD model as annotation.   We would like to be able to create 3D annotation to our CAD models for the "Feat Name" parameter.  This would give allow us to attach Reference Designators to the instances in a CAD assembly.  Very handy. 5. When opening any part within Creo, the context menu looks always the same, independent if an object is in Draft or Approved state. After using an "invalid" option like Check-Out for an Approved object, the user receive an error message, that he isn't allowed to run this operation on this object. Idea would be to introduce a validator which hides invalid operations, as for example Check-Out for approved objects or revise and check-out for objects which are already in Draft stare.           3. Then wanting to use the "Copy Position" feature in the Edit Position mode of the exploded views, the user must do extra clicks to get to the Copy Position feature.   The user must select the "Options" tab, then select "Copy Position" button.  Then the user can finally begin to use the Copy Position feature.   This causes unneeded clicks and frustration.   Alternately, instead of making a new tab, the "References" tab could have an extra box added to the bottom below "Movement References"  for the "Copy Position From"  box.   Combine the two basic move and the copy position boxes into a simply interface. 3. The box selection method to pick multiple parts on the screen is not available when in the "Edit Position" mode for Exploded Views in Creo Parametric.   (In general, the selection functions can be inconsistent, this is the one that is bothering for my current tasking.) 3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it. The user must exit the "Edit Position" mode, then they can use the box select methodology to select the desired components.   Then re-enter the "Edit Position" mode, then they can finally position the components as desired. 4. What I wish to request is an alternative way that enables faster assembling of components (who are opened in session) into an assembly (that is also opened in session) by making use of the existing copy paste buttons:   Of course after pasting the part into the assembly, you would then need to define the constraints (similar to when you're using the Assemble button after choosing a component in the File Open dialog window) Unfortunately, the method described above is not yet possible. 4. When you create a sketched assembly hole pattern you can't reference the hole geometry and create a reference pattern like you can for a sketched part hole pattern. The problem is covered in article CS344162 3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it. You have to reference the axis of the hole instead of the cylinder geometry 4. What is the use case for your organization? Describe how your idea would work in context or how it would apply to a practical situation. We have component placements for our screws that reference cylinder geometry and we have to break them when using assembly holes in order to use the reference pattern.  It works with a normal part hole feature so it makes no sense it wouldn't work with the assembly version. 5. Creating exploded states with many fasteners or other components.  It takes a long time to add explode lines for every object.  Even for simple explodes you must: Edit Position Select Fastener Move Fastener Click Cosmetic Offset Line Rotate and Zoom Select end surface of fastener Rotate, pan zoom Select reference the fastener came from Click Apply.   It should be:   Edit Position Select Fastener(s) Move Fastener(s) Offset line(s) present and can be removed by clicking button, or edited by drag handles or other tools 5.
