1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders. We're an OEM in the textile industry. Development of yarn winding, processing and handling machines. We work a lot with sheetmetal, often using inserts. 2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running? Creo 9.0.2 Windchill 12.1.2.0 3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video. A sheetmetal part cannot have representations or a family table. This makes it impossible to produce a flat instance or flat representation. This makes it impossible to add a flat state to a drawing. 4. What is the use case for your organization? In our ERP system, we assign a partnumber to a bend part, with its inserts and paint. The reason we do this, is to minimise administration during the seperate steps and because inserts are often inserted in the flat state. We're currently switching from Modeling. In modeling we solved this by adding the inserts in a 'container'. Since Parametric doesn't have containers, we would resort to an inseperable assemblies. An assembly, (representing the finished part with inserts and paint) would hold an embedded component,(the sheetmetal part) and the inserts. This seems to meet all our demands, except for the flat state, which we cannot put on drawing... 5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization? Our work around is using a seperate partnumber for the sheetmetal part, leaving several opportunities for mistakes as assemblies and parts can be mismatched during check-out, copying, release,...

The customers that are using Creo Elements/Direct Modeling are all using Inseperable Assemblies. This feature is supported in a standalone session or a linked session to Windchill. This function exists already a long time. Since Creo 8.0 this is also available, which is a great enhancement. PTC forgot to add the functionality for Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, which is unacceptable as Creo Parametric & Creo Elements/Direct Modeling are both products from PTC. This should be supported in a first place. For NX, Solidworks, Catia and Inventor it is possible, but not for the product they deliver. Please add also this functionality to Creo Parametric as this is for NX, SolidWorks, ... See below a picture from the import profile option

I am a member of the CAD Admins team, and our stakeholders are our team and our users. 2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running? We currently run 7.0.2.0 3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video. Most of our users who create datum feature symbols (DFS) or other annotations routinely forget to activate a combination state before creating them. These annotations end up on the Default All state, and are visible at higher levels. Design leads and others who open the higher level assemblies therefore have to deal with an insane level of clutter. 4. What is the use case for your organization? Trying to reduce visual clutter in higher level assemblies by assigning a more suitable default combination state for all annotations i.e. more suitable than Default All. 5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization? Much greater productivity for our senior engineers by reducing visual clutter in higher level assemblies.

In Creo Parametric it is not possible to create large deep assemblies with 25 levels or more. Article - CS120281 - Creo Parametric exits prematurely while trying to open a specific large and deep assembly file (ptc.com) Customers working with Creo Elements Direct Modeling does not have this level limitation. When they try to open their assemblies in Creo Parametric, Creo throws an error "Maximum assembly depth level has been exceeded" while opening an assembly, and generates a premature exit. Please expand this maximum assembly depth level!

CREO generates a lot of xml files (please see attached screenshot: *_log.xml). - currently, all files are getting saved at C:\Users\Public\Public Documents. (to the working directory) - user wants to save all these files under a new folder C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Log-files. 3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it. no workaround 4. What is the use case for your organization? Describe how your idea would work in context or how it would apply to a practical situation. it would help to save all *_log.xml files in 1 particular directory. 5. What impact does this problem currently have on your organization? (Number of users affected, hours of lost productivity, etc.) little impact

My company is a Manufacturing Company, I am a "Project Optimization Engineer PLM" but for you I am a Windchill Administrator and Customizer. My stakeholders are the Windchill and CAD users, many departments of the company 2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running? Creo 8.0.7.0, CEDM 20.4.1.0, UWGM 12.1.1.1, Windchill 12.0.2.4. 3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video. We use a Creo Elements / Direct Modeling module, licensed, called "Creo Simulate", but we use also Windchill, then Windchill Workgroup Manager. In the past I opened a case: C14068494 because if used with Windchill Workgroup Manager it didn't work. At the case 2 similar articles followed: CS327163 CS283818 And finally 2 similar SPRs: SPR 7397261 SPR 7655786 One of them was closed solving in Creo 7.0.4.0. But the solution was not complete because now is possible to maintain connected CEDM but not Creo. Creo Simulate has to be offline / NO SERVER, otherwise it doesn't work. Then I opened an other case: C16038750 but this time I don't have a solution for the future, there was a bouncing of responsability between R&D of Creo, CEDM and UWGM...but they are all PTC Product, the customer don't understand why PTC doesn't certificate/support the use of them together. The final response of support was: "Regarding this case, I hope you have been following the comments in the case. As I mentioned in our last call regarding this issue, I took over this to clarify the expected behavior. I have been in touch with R&D and Product Management teams regarding the combination WWGM-Modeling-Simulate. It proved to be a bit difficult as this is nowhere documented on PTC side. As it turned out after several internal discussions (and having been forwarded from one R&D team to the other, as multiple products are involved), the conclusion from Workgroup Manager Product Management is that Simulate analysis were never officially supported with Modeling in combination with Workgroup Manager. It is also not part of the regular QA testing. Previously, for the last case you reported where all Simulate options were greyed out, we forwarded the SPR to Simulate teams and they fixed the Simulate issue, after which the options were no longer greyed out. Regarding the follow up questions about Simulate/Creo being registered to Windchill server so that a Workspace is involved and has to be cleared to get the update from Modeling session connected to WWGM, it is not a tested/supported scenario. As the overall functionality is working except when Simulate has a Windchill server registered, you could use it as is, (and tell the users to put Creo to “No Server” to get rid of the registered Windchill server) if that serves your purpose. If the issue is same with simulate and Modeling even when Modeling is not connected to Windchill Workgroup Manager, then you can get this clarified from core Creo Elements/Direct Modeling side, i.e., with the CAD team, but please note that as per my discussion with Simulate R&D team, they also do not test in combination with Windchill, so in the end it may be the same outcome. Finally, you could create a product idea to request a certification of these products in combination so that issues can be reported in future. If you decide to report an incident, do add a link to the case as a comment." 4. What is the use case for your organization? My organization uses PTC Creo Parametric and PTC CEDM in the same PTC PDMlink Windchill. My users would like to maintain connected their PTC CADs to PTC PDMlink Windchill and work without issues. 5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization? Human time to go offline (saving, uploading, sych, etc) to do a Simulation.
