In some situations users encounter the following.
user would like to place a tangential dimension, and place that vertically
mathematically this is not correct. (because, yes there are tangential lines, but they are not parallel once you put the dimension vertically.
You get the "click not valid" message
in this case the user does not so much care about tangential conditions, the user just wants to show production the outer values of these kind of plates.
so an enhancement could be to offer a new type of dimension.
maybe even based on the outer lines that define the view rectangle ?
so what would be an enhancement for these situations

This is a tough one. I would tackle this in a sketch of the model where the sketch would allow the dimension to be horizontal or vertical (and the part skewed).
However, an additional prompt to allow for a "parallel/normal" orientation would work nicely for many such instances.
