"Remove all failed" item in round/chamfer references list

"Remove all failed" item in round/chamfer references list

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Automotive. I am a key user/administrator, using Creo/ProE daily since 2004

2. What version of Creo Parametric are you currently running?
7.0.3

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
Chamfer/round feature could fail after a model modification because the referenced edges do not exist any more. Please add a new item in the RMB menu in reference list of round/chamfer feature. Something like "Remove all failed". This would remove all failed references. A user must currently scroll the list, find all the failed references and remove them one by one, which is realy uncomfortable in case of many items in the list.

4. What is the use case for your organization?
N/A

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
time save

This can be avoided by using Menu Select and then Intent Edges when selecting edges for a round or chamfer.

It can be minimized, @BenLoosli , but not totally avoided. If we work with parts that have a merge feature, the intent information is not passed on to the "derived" part. In our case, we tend to add the rounds and chamfers in the derived part, not on the original one. The suggested idea has already been made, not only for the rounds / chamfers use cases, but also for the general case. Even in the "Edit References" dialog. I think also that it does not require too much programming effort, that the idea can be backported to a new update of Creo 8, and 7.

@BenLoosli , I can't see how to use Intent edges for reduction the number of failed edges. It could work for very easy shapes. But how to use Intent edges for part like the attached one? It is a jow, that must be modified if the manipulated product is changed.

I agree that such a command could be useful.

A couple of tools/methods that I use to minimize deleting lost references on rounds and chamfers:

  • When modifying sketches, always use replace in the sketch when possible when replacing an element.  This will reroute features lower in the tree to the new entity.
  • Try using edit references on failed features first to reroute to the new geometry first then edit definition and remove the rest if needed.
  • As mentioned above, using intent edges is also generally a good idea when possible.
