When is PTC going to fix the file importation problem? I've been using pro-e since 1998 and the #1 complaint I have is i can't get files to read in as solids. And now they have screwed up the data doctor so bad fixing models is almost impossible.
So i have this project that is drawn on solidedge and the files are a freaking mess when i import them with .stp or .x_t....forget .igs that translation method is completely and totally useless with pro-e and always has been. Well it turns out that Creo can read in native solidedge files (I had to upgrade to build m110....more unpaid hours added to the project).......NOT, the files are still a complete mess and worthless.
The only way i can get a decent file is to read the file into my old solidworks 2004 (and lets face facts here, solidworks blows PTC out of the water on file importation. It's sucess rate for reading in solids is 99% and that 1% gets fixed by just saying "fix the problem"....this portion of solidworks makes PTC Creo look like a toy for kids...but i digress) and then export if from that as a pro-e file.
I'M USING PTC'S COMPETITORS SOFTWARE THAT MAKES BETTER FILES THAN PTC!!
This project has cost me $1000's dealing with how bad the files import and my client is unsympathetic to my plight as he's fond of saying "nobody that uses solidworks has any problems reading my files"
so PTC step up to the damn plate and fix this this damn issue!!!
I also saw a "what's new for Creo 4.0" video and to my dismay all that was talked about was how they are striving to eliminate 2D drawings which is baffling and stupid for my industry.....almost ALL the companies i do business with gave up on eliminating 2D 10 freaking years ago!!! come on PTC wake up!! i could rant on and on about the 2D limits as well.
Still love the software though but.........
