to have a default simplified rep in sheetmetal part (like assembly mode)

to have a default simplified rep in sheetmetal part (like assembly mode)

hello,

to manage the sheetmetal drawing with a Template, I use simplified rep to have in first folio the bend part, and in folio 2 the unbend part.

but with this configuration, I must use the simplified representation in an assemby. to do that, I place the part, replace it by the ben simplified rep, and assemble it.

It would be usefull to be able to modify a default simp rep excluding the flat feature to manage by default the bend part, and have a "unbend rep simp" used in the drawing.

Ronan,

You can try to set the Master Rep as the bent state and to create a user-defined simplified rep for the flat state.

The Master Rep contains all the features in the part, and that can’t be changed. What you can do is create an Unbend and a Bend Back feature. Then when creating the Simplified Rep exclude the Bend Back.

There is a work around described here:  Creo 2.0 Sheetmetal - Simplified Reps for flat pat... - PTC Community

This allows you to bend back after the flatpattern feature for the default and to have a simplified rep with the bend back supressed.

Thank you Angela for your comment!

I already do this, but the problem is when you add a new feature, you need to manually move the "insert here". And if do not rename the bend back feature like "ALWAYS_LAST_FEAT" or "A_FLAT_PATTERN_LIKE_--_PLEASE_KEEP_THIS_FEATURE_AT_THE_END" and you cannot have a so long name, you can have issues when another engineer modifies your part, or also when you have to modify it few months later.

I think it would be good to keep the Flat Pattern mecanism using simplified rep, don't you?

and after several reflection and beers (that could help sometimes), I think the default simple rep looks the best and simple way to make it works!

Thank you Kevin for your comment!

I already found this workaround, and I think it's a bug!! you need to activate a combined view to add the bend back after the flat pattern, and it works in CREO 2.0 but not in CREO 3.0 or WF5!!!

but you're right, it looks what I dream

It's still possible (in CREO 3.0) to add bend back after flat pattern.

The trick is you have to add bend back in simple representation but earlier you have to exlude flatt pattern feature.

After that bend back will be the last feature in model tree and will be failed.

Now you have to switch flat pattern to default and exlude bend back in simple representation,

and it's solved in CREO 5.0!!
