unlimited pen line width / unlimited pentable

unlimited pen line width / unlimited pentable

I vote to make this area much more innovative and have pentable list e.g. without any limits about number of available pens.

At the moment after switch (use_8_plotter_pens=yes) from 4 to 8 pens we can have not more than 8! e.g.:

pen 1; thickness 0.002 cm; color 0 0 0; drawing_color;

pen 2; thickness 0.002 cm; color 0 0 0; letter_color;

pen 3; thickness 0.002 cm; color 0 0 0; datum_color;

pen 4; thickness 0.002 cm; color 1 0 0; highlite_color;

pen 5; thickness 0.002 cm; color 0 0 0; section_color;

pen 6; thickness 0.001 cm; color 0 0 0; dimed_color;

pen 7; thickness 0.001 cm; color 0 0 0; edge_highlite_color;

pen 8; thickness 0.002 cm; color 1 0 0; magenta_color;

Current solution is really, really oldfashioned

For example to make few profiles comparison without changes in table.pnt config file it is really painful, whilst have no influence on existing drawing is almost impossible!

I have hope that in Creo 9.0 we'll have at least "9" different pens available

Why not cumulating colours with same pen attribs to one pen - it's possible.

e.g . we use this:

pen 1 thickness 0.05  cm; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; drawing_color attention_color

pen 2 thickness 0.025 cm; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; edge_highlite_color half_tone_color letter_color section_color dimmed_color

pen 3 thickness 0.018 cm; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; magenta_color

pen 4 thickness 0.035 cm; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; highlite_color

Pen 2 serves 5 colors. It also looks, that you're only using three different pens

So you would have 5 more pens for your convenience.

Your pen table could be like this:

pen 1; thickness 0.002 cm; color 0 0 0; drawing_color letter_color datum_color section_color

pen 2; thickness 0.002 cm; color 1 0 0; highlite_color magenta_color

pen 3; thickness 0.001 cm; color 0 0 0; dimed_color edge_highlite_color

If it doesn't work, I would like to get feedback - it's been a while (in 2004) since we created that file - never checked again.

In my opinion, the major problem with the current implementation is the inability to move certain entities to other pens.

Custom colors will always print to pen 1.  (This would be okay if the other rules below didn't exist.)

Preselection Highlight will always print to pen 1.

Secondary Preview Geometry will always print to pen 1.

Preview Geometry will always print to pen 1.

Secondary Selected will always print to pen 4.

Curves (default color) might only print to pen 1.  (See CURVE_COLOR - Define a new mapping for 3D curves in table.pnt)
