Webcast Q&A

Question from AnandIs there any consideration for fatigue safety factors as each design shape may have different fatigue resistance?

Answer:  You could take the final model and run fatigue on it.

Webcast Q&A

Question from AnonymousCan an optimal geometry be created with thermal conditions?

Answer:  Soon.  Right now, it is only Structure.  We will soon have Modal and Thermal.

Webcast Q&A

Question form AnthonyIf a material(s) are not listed in library, can we include our own material along with its properties?

Answer:  Sure, you can add and edit materials.

Webcast Q&A

Question from RyanIf we constrain the build volume, why have an exclusion body?

Answer:  An exclusion is a keep out from within the preserved body.

Webcast Q&A

Question from MikePlease explain the different types of contact.  Can you do a frictional contact element?

Answer:  The contact is simply transferring load between components/parts.

Question from MikeYou had mentioned that other tools use FEA and Creo gen design does not?

Answer:  The FEA approach starts with a large model and removes material where there is no strain.  This builds the model generatively within the open space and analyzes that.

Webcast Q&A

Question from JuanCan we calculate the security factor?

Answer:  Yes, using the cloud options, the tool will build many models and you can filter based on factor of safety.

Webcast Q&A

Question from KevinDoes it create geometry from a datum reference frame?  Or would you have to re-create the model using that methodology?

Answer:  The Solid geometry could be built as part of the existing model or from a new part (with start part datums, etc.)

Webcast Q&A

Question from DakotaCould you make the exclude part of the envelope?  Why does it need to be a different feature?

Answer:  You could.  But this gives you the flexibility to build multiple models some with and some without the exclude portions.

Webcast Q&A

Question from KuroshDoes the design try to limit hot spots in stress?  I missed that in the design criteria (prioritize deformation over stress).

Answer:  It does try to distribute the strain as much as it can.

In Creo 9.0, we added Modal optimization.

We are targeting Creo 10 for Thermal (subject to change).

In Creo 9.0, we've made this easier by adding a new Structural optimization goal: minimize mass at a target safety factor.
