Webcast Q&A

Question from AnonymousHow do edit and show the results at the same time?

Answer:  The CSL requires a regeneration.  As fast as the model can be fully regenerated, the model will re-mesh and solve.

Question from AnonymousHave you modified the material properties after selecting STEEL for this model? (Asking from personal issues assigning material from Creo default options and incorrect densities and possibly other parameters)

Answer:  For Structural simulations, you need Young's Modulus and Poisson's Ratio.  Those are usually pretty good in the library.  Thermal characteristics are usually good too for Thermal Simulations.  They are also editable.

Webcast Q&A

Question from DHow does it handle the interfaces between where two parts are coincident (example:  a screw)?  Does it just treat the two parts as one body?

Answer:  Creo Simulation Live considers mating components in assembly as bonded.  Material differences are respected, however, they are fused together as if they were one body.

Webcast Q&A

Question from CalvinCan this be used on the Sheetmetal model?

Answer:  Sure, sheetmetal now works well with the newer builds.  In Creo 4.0 M130, we use the new Ansys Discovery solver that works well on sheetmetal parts.  That was an earlier issue but not so much starting with M130.

Webcast Q&A

Question from GCan thermal analysis simulate the actual heatpipe as it shows in the example?

Answer:  With other tools (Creo Flow Analysis) we can model fluid flow showing conjugate heat transfer but not in CSL.

Webcast Q&A

Question from LuisCan I launch regular simulation with the settings in Live Simulation or do I have to re-do them?

Answer:  CSL loads and BC's along with Materials transfer directly to Creo Ansys Solutions.  Only materials transfer to Creo Simulate.

Webcast Q&A

Question from SarangCan we see temperature on surface due to this flow?

Answer:  In this tool, you really aren't looking at the temperature of the model, you are looking at the temperature of the flow volume.  It is not as accurate as a true conjugate heat transfer like in our other tool, Creo Flow.

Webcast Q&A

Question from HermesCan thermal analysis handle an assembly with different material properties?

Answer:  Yes, material properties of all parts are considered during simulations.
