Webcast Q&A

Comment from AnonymousDefault rep may need to be master rep as default rule if using extended positioning publishing for Creo View.

Answer:  Yes, there are many things to consider when changing the Default Rep.  Proceed as needed is the message.

Webcast Q&A

Question from Bill:  Will admins make these recommended config changes?

Answer:   They can.  Needs to be discussed collectively to decide the best way to proceed.

Webcast Q&A

Question from John:  Is there a way to enforce the open simplified rep when it opens even for other users?  I have others on my team that complain a big assembly is too heavy and I point out they have to use certain simplified reps but they just open things as is.  It would be nice if when they opened the simplified rep as the default option when anyone hits open in the top assembly and the full assembly is on demand, not the default.

Answer:   As Lino described, the "Default Rep" can be set to open with any Simplified rep rule that you choose, and share to all users.

Webcast Q&A

Question from MatthewCan you copy rule based simplified rep from other models so the "bolt/screw" reps don't need to be recreated in a new model?

Answer:  You can save the query that is created under a rule, to a fil, and then reuse that in rules based simplified reps in other models.

Lino Tozzi suggested turning on absolute accuracy by default although I have heard anecdotally that absolute accuracy can be a problem for large assembly management. Has anyone had experience with this?

Also he suggested using rule based reps but my understanding was that Creo had to open heavy reps in order to query the parameters to evaluate the rules which defeats the reason to do the rules in the first place.

Can Automatic rep be used in drawings instead of Master rep? What are the pros and cons of this approach?
