Question from Kevin: If you update the part model, do you have to restart the tool paths or will it only recreate the paths on new/modified features?
Answer: It will update. As with all model types in Creo , the tool paths are associative and reflects changes to the reference model. Lee will demonstrate this in the demo.
Question from Mike: If your CAD model is stored in Windchill and released, the Annotations cannot be stored in the model without Revising, correct?
Answer: Yes, that would likely be the case. If your company has configured Windchill and access control for released products, that is what you will be able to do. It depends on that configuration, and is likely set up that way.
Question from Mark: What if I'm not sure what type of CNC machine our machine shop has? Is the file created universal to all brands of CNC machines?
Answer: Creo NC outputs toolpaths in industry standard "APT" format, and then Creo Gpost will "postprocess" the APT file into whatever specific M and G code file required by your machine. By this method, Creo NC can support virtually any type of machine you might have in your shop.
We had a couple of questions come in through chat that I wanted to address:
There is a config option mfg_process_template_dir that controls the location to store the XML templates. Set this and all templates get created there instead of your working directory. For some reason, using the templates as I showed with the XML Template button does not default to this location right now, so you may want to set a Favorite pointer for that directory. There is an SPR filed for this oversight, feel free to contact tech support and push to get it completed.
Also, there was a great enhancement suggestion for the ability to select multiple templates at one time (as with the shift key). That is not a capability today but is certainly a good suggestion.
