Creo Simulation Live Tips

Sort by:
What types of analysis are supported using Creo Simulation Live?  Creo Simulation Live can be used to perform linear structure, thermal and modal analysis.     Does Creo Simulation Live work with assembly models?  Yes, when using Creo Simulation Live, assembly components are treated as bonded connections.     What is a GPU? Answer: The GPU is the graphics processing unit, the CPU is the central processing unit.  Architecturally, the CPU is composed of just a few cores with lots of cache memory that can handle a few software threads at a time. In contrast, a GPU is composed of hundreds of cores that can handle thousands of threads simultaneously.  Creo Simulation Live uses the GPU as a computational powerhouse to deliver live analysis results.   What are the graphics card requirements? Creo Simulation Live relies on the latest GPU technology to provide its computation and visual experience.  To run the software, you will require:  A dedicated NVIDIA GPU card (Quadro recommended) based on the Kepler, Maxwell or Pascal architecture. Maxwell 2000 or better strongly recommended. Most dedicated NVIDIA GPU cards produced in 2013 or later will be based on one of these architectures. At least 4GB of video RAM (8GB+ preferred) on the GPU.  My graphics card is a NVIDIA CUDA-Enabled graphics card with appropriate memory, why is the hardware checker stating it is not supported? If this is the case, I would recommend downloading the latest driver for your card from nvidia.com.  Once installed, please run the checker again to confirm.     What files are created when using Creo Simulation Live and how are they managed? Creo Simulation Live does not create any files to manage or store.  If desired, you can export a results file (.HTML) that could be saved locally or managed within Windchill.       How does this work with Creo Simulate?  Creo Simulation Live can directly reuse loads, constraints and material definitions defined in Creo Simulate.  Creo Simulation Live can also reuse studies defined in Creo Simulate, if they are applicable.  Creo Simulation Live models can contain multiple studies (i.e., multiple structural, thermal).  The users can have a single simulation running at any time.  Creo Simulation Live simulations can be reused in Creo Simulate.     Does Creo Simulation Live affect performance of Creo and Windows? Creo Simulation Live solver engine uses the GPU as the computational powerhouse.  ANSYS recommends 8GB+ of video RAM on the GPU for optimal system performance and specifies a minimum of 4GB video RAM.     How does Creo Simulation Live work with the Design Exploration Extension? Creo Design Exploration allows you to create checkpoints which are saved instances of your model.  When using Creo DEX, you can quickly and easily move between checkpoints to explore design options using Creo Simulation Live to assess and evaluate real-time results.  To use Creo Simulation Live with DEX (Beta version), Live Simulation must be running when the DEX session is started.    How are materials assigned to my model? Creo Simulation Live utilizes the materials assigned to the model following the standard process via the Creo material finder.  This makes it easy to add additional materials to the model and active the appropriate material as needed.
