We have also tried to figure out how small gaps are handled by the solution. And we found out that the comportment depends on the size of the gap (and not on the fact that the gap exists or not) and the fidelity cursor does not seems to influence much.
I've attached the overall model setup screenshot (the model is coming from the training guides) and also the results with various separation distances between the models. Under a certain gap, the system seems to consider that the 2 components are still in touch. It seems that changing the assembly accuracy has no influence.
