Creo Schematics: Allow format change to a smaller sheet size

Creo Schematics: Allow format change to a smaller sheet size

Currently in Creo Schematics, you can change the format used for a sheet, but only to a format size that is larger than the current sheet size. I would like the ability to change the format to a smaller sheet size as necessary (e.g., going from D size to B size).

Smaller sizes are blocked unless your design fits in them.

If your design fits in a B size, it will be available.  It uses the upper right corner of the design to check for fit, so you want to move everything to the bottom left to do this.

Just did some testing, you can shove the design lower and to the left of the bottom left corner to allow a smaller format to be allowed.
Your design may not fit the new format.  I am about to make some blocks with an outline of the useable area of our formats so that I can make the work fit into the new space before making it smaller.

I think they should be available to set a "goal" to work the schematic into a given size.  They should show up and maybe put an * next to the ones it currently wont fit.  (explain in the dialog box what a * means).  We should be able to override the software's options.

My method for a target is to have an outline of the useful areas of a couple sheets I want to go use and save it as a .sheet file.  I can import them into a design done on a larger sheet to see what I need to do to arrange it in the desired border or move items to other sheets.

That way I can leave areas where we don't want design (title block and area for watermarks).

You could put in an idea suggestion (https://community.ptc.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/creoparametric) for an enhancement.

One possibility would be to allow you to change to a sheet size that is too small for the design.  They presently let you work outside the limits of the design sheet, why not let you do that when moving to a smaller sheet.?

Dave can you edit this post and add the tag SCHEMATICS to it? (instead of PIPING AND CABLING)
