Creo View Adapters - Support Mixed True Type Fonts for PDF Output

Creo View Adapters - Support Mixed True Type Fonts for PDF Output

Support was added to Creo 3.0 M060 to allow mixed font output to PDF.  (This already existed for printing.)  With the new config option enabled, True Type fonts are correctly embedded in the PDF, and non-True Type fonts are stroked.  This mixed output provides the best balance between file size and quality while insuring that what is seen on the screen exactly matches what is shown in the PDF.  (See CS205845 for more info.)

Please add this same capability to the Creo View Adapters.  There needs to be an additional option made available in the recipe editor just like there is in Creo's PDF Export Settings dialog.

Great idea, Tom! We've been trying to turn True Type Fonts on but have been having this same issue. This should be the default for both Creo Parametric and the CAD Workers as you get all of the advantages of the True Type Fonts when available but no font conversion. By default, there should be NO font conversion. What you see in Creo should be what you see on the PDF unless the user decides on something different. Which is why I don't like pen tables but that's a different story...

This is solved now. See the link below for more info.

Correct, this is now current functionality but as the article states, this does not (yet) apply to additional files being generated by publish rules.

**bleep** you are right. But what does it solve then?

For our environment, nothing.  [We use HPGL (.plt) files for the primary representation and PDFs as additional files.]  I have requested these options be extended to additional files as well.  No idea when or if it will happen.

We have the same environment 🙂

When I use the config.pro option intf2d_out_pdf_stroke_non_ttf yes, the PDF export setting "Stroke non TrueType fonts" becomes available and then the exported PDF looks excellent. But the problem is that this option isn't availabel in the recipe. When I set the recipe to "TrueType Fonts" all text in Arial isn't exported at all (text is gone on the PDF) while Arial Narrow is there. Of course i can stroke the text but then the files are become massive (slow resonse and big file size).

Exactly.  This is why we are still forced to stroke all fonts.  PDFs are massive and load very slow, but things get lost or don't line up properly if using TrueType only.
