Dynamic Publish family table replacing components and controlling placement

Dynamic Publish family table replacing components and controlling placement

We are currently using Windchill 11.2 and I am an admin at one of our many design facilities.

The problem we have is with publishing family tables which drive configuration/geometry of components based on their location for a specific use on a machine.  One specific assembly cannot be published as a positioning or extended positioning assembly because the family table instances are driven through a top level assembly which is not recognized by the adapter.

Having this addressed would allow us to view configured machines through options and variants as well as looking at structures and building work instructions in Windchill.

Thank you for publishing your idea. However, we need more information as specified in the form you saw in the submission process. (questions below). The more details and context you give to document your idea, the better. Think about ways to educate and convince other Community members to support your idea and present your case to the product management team for consideration.

Please let us know within the next two weeks.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
2. What product & version are you currently running?
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
4. What is the use case for your organization?
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Additionally, I invite you to check out this topic where PTC executives explain product managers' approach to customer ideas and input for product roadmaps.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.  The environment is a multi method server with many replicas across the globe.  Our industry server the agriculture sector.  I do not have the current status of the CAD workers and adapters being used.  Our Creo environment is Creo 7.0.3.0.
2. What product & version are you currently running?  Currently, we are using Windchill 11.2 CPS16 with plans to move to 12.1.1 later this year (2022).
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.  This was made in the initial creation of the idea.  This was created in response to a PTC Case in which R&D spent quite a while understanding the issue.
4. What is the use case for your organization?  To have a consistent publishing method for all assemblies.  If we are not able to publish assemblies which use a mechanism such as family tables to drive component placement based off of an upper level configuration then we are not able to effectively use options and variants.
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?  Being able to use the PTC tools in place to drive vehicle orders.  This is the way it was advertised, but seems that not all assembly/placement methods were vetted.
