In Illustrate 7.1/8.0, when publishing a Creo View 3D file from Creo Illustrate and opening it in Creo View the user interface is adapted to some kind of simplified "Illustrate" ribbon with Go to Figure and Light Scenes. However, commonly used MCAD features like Find and Search (with control of the attributes to search in and queries to use) are no longer available - they become enabled when the Default viewable is selected, but then both the data specific to the figure and any state changes (positions, colors, etc) disappear.
PTC Support says (C16133183) this behavior is working as designed: There is no option to have the tools available for Models (when selecting default or empty views) to figures, when selecting a figure the Find tool (find, search and quick search) disappears from the ribbon.
Proposal 1: enable all Creo View (MCAD) features to work for a Figure View, e.g. through a option and put the Figure specific functions into a toolbar/Ribbon section
Proposal 2: Document the designed behavior in the help, today it is not clear what the designed behavior is/what limitations exist
