Make Creo flexible with alternate part names

Make Creo flexible with alternate part names

Creo View owns the feature to show the part names generated with different attributes. e.g. using the synchronized WTPart number and the name from Windchill.

Creo still doesn't own this feature! These part names should be available in all dialogs and not just in the structure navigator. So if you search in the open dialog, it should also find those parts.

Get rid of this old school filename!!! Everybody talks about generated numbers and classify it with attributes. Just Creo doesn't support it.

Best as I can tell, Ideas submitted prior to the move to the Lithium forum did not get a status. The migration from Jive forum to Lithium forum happened in June of 2017.

@StephenW After the migration non of the ideas had any status. These are being set from some PTC two month ago. So that's the reason why I'm asking if this idea is being missed somehow.

If you look at the Creo Idea page and select "new ideas", it sorts based on date. Every idea has a status UNTIL the lithium roll date. It was on page 14 at which none of the ideas had a status. Maybe they turned on the options for statuses but it only applied to ideas that were lithium ideas (hence the statuses being set). I flipped through a few more pages and didn't find any older ideas that had a status.

On a side note, I had an idea implemented that I specifically remembered had been marked as implemented in Jive and is now doesn't have a status. The transition was not seamless by any means.

Does anybody using a separate number generator for Creo Documents? If so, how do you know which WTPart number is matched with the Creo Document number.

Case 1: when you've opened up a Creo assembly and you're getting the information to change something on article 4711. How do you find out which Creo document you need to change?

Case 2: when you know you need to add component with article number 4711 to your assembly. When you open up the add component dialog, you will only see the Creo document numbers! So you need to remember the number?
