Currently when you have a 3D model with combined states on Creo parametric and you export it as a STEP AP242 file, then when you open the STEP file on Creo View combined states are not saved.
You can see the geometry of the STEP on Creo View but not combined states.
Creo View must allow combined states display from STEP because STEP AP242 is part of the Model Based Definition and is a standard for the long term archiving.
So we really need to open a STEP (with combined states) from Creo View (free software accessible for the whole company)
Did anyone ever answer this since 3 years ago??!! Here's a link to a PTC support answer:
It basically says that it's not part of CreoView, but they're evaluating.
We just tried a test, and combined states still don't translate with AP242, unless there are options that we don't know about.
This capability certainly would be beneficial since we are moving towards MBD with STEP 242 as our neutral format of choice. It is interesting that Creo Parametric seems to be able to import a STEP 242 while preserving the model orientations used in combined states. Creo View should be able to do this as well.
