Substitution simp reps is not supported with the Creo View Adapters.

Hi,

I would like that Creo View Adapters can handle substitution simp reps so Creo View users easily can open simp reps that designers use in Creo. This also applies when doing a Save a Copy in Creo Parametric to Creo View format. Only normal simp reps are published..

Thanks Magnus for entering this!   Our company entered an enhancement request for this 2 years ago and was told at the time we were the only ones asking for this.  At the Technical Committee meetings in January, I heard another company had requested it.   PTC has made significant improvements with the ability to autoload required links and graphics associated with viewables(simp reps) and Annotations in positioning assemblies with the M040 release.  It is my belief that the MBD group will need this because their output is very dependent on the view manager in Parametric.

Magnus, you should evaluate Creo View 3 M031 with Object adapter for CV3 M030.  I believe your simplifed rep as shown above will be available in Creo View.  You will need to resend all assemblies in your structure that have simplfied reps in them.

From my testing, they have solved 99% of the simplified reps that we create in our environment at top level truck level assemblies along with enabling simplfied reps to be selected at lower level system sub-assemblies.  It's quite impressive!

Two issues we still have:

1) part simplifed reps are not solved

2) If you explicitly define a lower level component residing under a "derived" assembly, then Creo View loads the derived condition and ignores the explicit component.  (reference picture below).  I evaluted 3 different scenarios to conclude that the derived status always overrides explicit...which might be intended functionality from PTC's standpoint.

It would be nice if PTC updated the table in CS20639 to reflect Creo View 3 M030+ adapters.  This way we could see the side by side comparison instead of digging thru the installation guide referenced at the bottom of the page.
