Cant start EMX 4.1 in Wildfire 4

Get this message when i start Wildfire 4. Welcome to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. Valid license for Expert Moldbase Extension found! Pro/TOOLKIT application 'EMX 4.1 M350', from registry file 'C:\ptc\EMX4.1_M350\text\protk.dat', predates Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire v4.0 but was not marked as using legacy encoding. How can i fix this? The emx 4.1 runs fine in Wildfire 3. Regards Tommy

Hello Tommy, I had a similar problem when starting EMX5.0 in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. To solve it I did the following: 1. find the protk.dat in your computer (it should be in <INSTALL_DIR_OF_EMX> 2. open it with notepad 3. edit the 3rd line of the file: exec_file <INSTALL_DIR_OF_EMX>\$PRO_MACHINE_TYPE\emx50_wf4.dll (change emx50_wf4.dll) 4. start Pro/ENGINEER 5. click Tools > Options 6. find the option protkdat and make it point to your protk.dat file (the one you just edited) 7. restart Pro/ENGINEER ------------------------- This worked for me (after many tries!!) Oops... your protk.dat file should be in <INSTALL_DIR_OF_EMX>\text\ The feedback I got from PTC's technical support is that the latest version of EMX (5.0) is not ready to work with Wildfire 4.0, so they had to compile a new dll file - emx50_wf4.dll Best regards.

Hi Now i can start EMX 5.0 in wildfire 4. But what i want is to get EMX 4.1 to work. Only find three dll files (emx41.dll,emx41_2001.dll,emx41_wf.dll) probably need this file emx41_wf4.dll but cant find it. Maybe i have to contact PTC's technical support to solve this. Regards Tommy

Sorry... Can't help you with EMX4.1. Have you tried those 3 dll files you mentioned? Maybe one of them will work. If I had to guess, I'd say the one with more chances of working would be emx42_wf.dll, but since the dll file doesn't work by default with EMX5.0, I don't think it will with any previous version. Maybe the best way to solve it, is to contact support. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck. Best regards.

check dir <emx install_dir\mold41\i486_nt> you see the file emx41_wf4.dll is for use with wildfire 4 check dir <emx install_dir\mold41\text> for the file protk.dat. Edit with notepad and find correct to mattch <emx install_dir\mold41 \$PRO_MACHINE_TYPE\emx41_wf4.dll it will work now
