Drawing automation through Mathcad

I wanted to check if the following workflow is possible using Creo and Mathcad, and whether any customization is needed.

Use Case:
Let’s say I am designing a pressure vessel, where key parameters such as diameter, height, and thickness are determined through design calculations.

Now, the thickness is calculated based on a formula in Mathcad, and I do not need to create a 3D model of the pressure vessel. Instead, my goal is to directly generate a 2D drawing in Creo, where dimensions like thickness, height, and diameter are taken from a linked Mathcad worksheet.

My questions are:

  1. Is it possible to use output variables from a Mathcad sheet directly inside a Creo 2D drawing to control dimensions?

  2. Can this be done without creating a 3D model?

  3. Does this workflow require any customization or special setup?

  4. If it’s possible, could you please guide me on how to link Mathcad with a drawing and control the values dynamically?

This workflow is quite relevant for many industries (especially pressure vessel design), where 2D drawings are generated based on standards and formulas instead of modeling the complete geometry.

Appreciate any guidance or references you can provide!

Hi,

AFAIK you can link Mathcad Prime mcdx file with Creo model, only,
