Programming Models

Good Morning,

Our Company has established its part and assembly models to read data off
layouts. The Layouts contains relations that follow our company standards
for building our products. We have a top level Layout that is used as a
user input sheet. Where the engineers enter all the parameters that are
required to build or modify a base model. It works good, but we are looking
for it to be more user-friendly and more efficient in entering data. As
well as freeing up the models from the layouts. We are presently looking
into having this data entered thru J-Link or Excel Visual Basic. We have
written our own programs in the layouts to change our products to most what
ever is needed. We are moving up to WF2 in the near future, but we have a
vendor that states that it would be difficult for us (internally) to convert
the programming into Java or Excel Visual Basic to allow users access it
thru ProE. We have Engineers that are familiar with the Excel Visual Basic
software program and disagree with the vendor.

Are there any other companies that are utilizing Java or Excel Visual Basic
thru Pro/E to develop your products? Would you recommend in-house
development or vendor.

Thanks in Advance,
