Hi Everyone:
This is not a specific Pro/E question. I need to calculate the deflection of a beam with a ring-segment for a cross-section. Does anyone remember the formula C (distance from neutral-axis to outer-most fiber) for a ring-segment (annulus) based on I.D., O.D., and angle of sweep?
I need this to calculate the section modulus (z = I/c), and I believe the moment of Inertia for this area is I = alpha/4 *(R2^4 - R1^4) where alpha (angle of sweep) = 60 deg*(PI/180 deg) = PI/3. Is this correct?
From the attached file, c = .066 inches. However, I am interested in the correct mathmatical formula.
