2 smaller monitors vs. 1 larger

With my new PC, the IT guys is saying that 2 19" monitors are doable or 1 larger, I think 26".  I'm currently running a single 20", not sure I want to step down to a 19", but all I hear is raving about a dual monitor setup.

What I may do is suggest that I get the 26" and see if I can keep this tired 20" as a second as long as it lasts (I'm getting some image burn in).

Are the 19" widescreens?  2 regular 19" 4:3 monitors might be OK.   If they
are widescreens... no way, you will likely be unhappy.

Your idea of getting the 26" & keeping your old one as a secondary is IMO
you best bet.    I use a 26" widescreen (1920 X 1200 res) here at home,
excellent for Pro & my old 21" CRT as the secondary monitor.  The 26" is
directly in front of me, the 21" to the right.  Works very well for me.

Is the 26" 1920 X 1200 res?  Unfortunately, the marketing ummm people have
somehow convinced the consumers that 1920 X 1080 is good.  "But it's HD!!"
they will say... the response is "it's computer monitor, not a TV"   I''ve
been using 1200 horizontal for 15 years, as long as I've been doing CAD.  It
will be a sad day when the monitors I am currently using at work, 2 ancient
Trinatron 21" CRTs die.  It's getting hard to find 1200H in a monitor now
days at any kind of affordable price point.

Love a summary of this.
