Any tips and hints how a 3D model is checked as opposed to a drawing?
At the moment the drawing for our company is the master. We may make the models 'master' and in some cases either dispense with the drawing or relegate it to a checking document.
I can see we will need to change our checking regime, but I am looking for guidance from anyone who has already taken this step.
Design checks would probably remain the same (right size holes, correct thread callout etc), but I can see there would be a greater need to check the 3D documentation - tolerances, surface finish , 3d symbols instead of checking the same on a drawing.
I have some ideas but I am interested in what others are thinking.
