Imported STEP file - Enable Solid

I posted a question over here in the Simulation forum that has not gotten any responses.

How can I get CREO to import this part as a solid?

I imported both of your step files into Creo1. The first Double_hook came in fine. I just had to select the surface quilt and then Solidify to make a solid. There were no holes or gaps in the import. The Round Hook came in no problem and was already a solid. I added a hole in the end you can remove. Files are attached.

I do not see an obvious way of determining if the import is solid or surface body.
Both imports have the same browser node.

In the other programs I use it is immediately obvious just looking at the browser feature tree.
Am I missing something?

The first thing you could do is a mass properties check. If it's a solid, then there's volume. Otherwise, some visual clues (edge coloring) may tell you if it's a quilt or a solid. Also, in Import Data Doctor you can select the solidify icon and click the green check mark, as long as you don't see any one-sided edges and the part should solidify.

I agree that it would be nice to have the model tree icon be either outlined or solid, depending on what the results of the import are.

A quick visual aid is the Hole Tool button - it will be grayed out if the part is not solid.

There are two ways I can think of to instantly see if it s a solid or
surface

- Solids and surfaces are different colours.
- Surfaces do not display hidden line detail, only wireframe is available
