Summary - Creo2 Regen Magic

No concrete answer on this.  Most responses wanted a summary. 😛

The only real response was to hit regen (or ctrl-G), which of course
works, but seems to kinda defeat the idea of the auto regen.

Some hated the auto regen, I don't mind it but I'd like a clear workflow
to get out of it.  The thing that has worked most is two left clicks,
and then the part/assy regens and I'm off to the next thing.
Unfortunately that only works 60%-70% of the time or so, enough that I'm
clicking and clicking the other times waiting for something to happen
before I finally hit regen myself.

I do tend to agree with Dean in general about software that tries too
hard to think for you, but I wouldn't put this in that camp.  You're
going to have to regen once you make a change, why not automate it?

Some software tries to predict how you want to build or is built around
some kid of 'optimal' workflow.  Solidworks is like this and it's the
reason that many love it.  It just seems to work, they'll say.  However,
if you try to drive the bus in the direction it doesn't want to go,
you're fighting it every step of the way. It's like getting off for gas
and listening to your GPS nag you to get back on track.

Anticipate the next step in the process, sure, but don't try to predict
where I want to go from here.

BTW, of the responses I did get, this was my favorite:

Raise your right foot off the floor, use your left hand on the right
hand mouse, close your left eye, DON'T SMILE, lean your head to the
right, place your right hand over your......heart, then mmb click three
times while repeatedly chanting there's no place like PTC.

Although I am a complete noob at SWX, there seems to be a similar thing with
that package. Sometimes a change on the fly just happens, other times I
need to perform a manual regen. I am also not familiar w/ Creo2, so forgive
me if I am way off. I always like to give the software the benefit of the
doubt - I blame myself for not understanding it fully. That saves me some
stress - at least temporarily. And then I ask you all and find out it isn't
my ignorance, it is the software. Then the stress level peaks and all is
lost.

Maybe it is better to remain in the dark - ignorance is bliss, so they say.

The battle continues.
