A rotating model in PDF?

Hello All:

I remember that we were able to export a rotatable model to a pdf for others to look at.

Is this something we can do with Creo Elements?

Thanks

Deguza

Yes, that's correct.

You can do a 3D-pdf, but only with an Acrobat Pro module.

Thank you Markus. I don't speak much German but Google translate came to the rescue.

If I understand correctly:

  • I cannot do it from the Creo Elements end.
  • I need Adobe Acrobat Pro and some of its extensions.
  • An "Adobe 3D Reviewer" is also needed.

Is what I wrote above correct?

All the best,

Deguza

Arturo,

ProEngineer WildFire 4 added the ability to export a PRT or ASM to a 3D PDF, I bet Creo Elements can do the same, no extra modules required.

File --> Save a Copy... --> Select "PDF U3D (*.pdf)" for "Type"

The 3D PDFs can be viewed with the regular Acrobat Reader:

-Just open the 3D PDF and click on the 2D picture to activate the 3D content

-The user can then rotate, zoom, pan the 3D model and hide/show components

Hello,

Arturo answer is correct, without extra module you are able to generate a 3D pdf from a model with creo element direct. I did it with the task agent on a big assembly. So as to do that you need the licence option PDF 3D.

After the generation I was able to open the pdf and to see the 3D model, rotate, translate... without any option.

Florian,

Do you have licenses for the 3D PDF module? I attempted to turn on the "3D PDF & U3D" Data Interface module in Creo Elements Direct but received an error that "no licenses are available" because we don't have licenses for this. Next I attempted to create a 3D PDF of a part using Task Agent like you said you did but the task failed.

Dan

Hello Daniel,

I had one but now I don't have, you need to contact your PTC sales representative to ask for one.

Best Regards.

Florian

Hello Dan,

You need a "Creo Elements/Direct 3D PDF Converter" license to save a 3D model into a 3D PDF format and Acrobat Reader XI 11.0.3 is able to get it.

As Louis correctly stated, you need a "Creo Elements/Direct 3D PDF Converter" license

The license is also required when you are using Task Agent, since Task Agent starts "CAD" (=Modeling)

for all jobs related to 3D-data.

Talk to your Sales Rep concerning evaluation of 3D PDF - then decide if you want to buy the license.

Regards,

Max

We have Task Agent licenses but do not have 3D PDF converter licenses. Therefore we are able to create generic CAD formats with Task Agent but no 3D PDFs. Thanks for your responses.
