Adobe Illustrator files for datum curves....

ProE people,

I have a question about the best way to get logo artwork into a ProE
feature (cut/protrusion). I have an illustrator (ai) file of a logo and
I would like to use this geometry to extrude into a feature.

I know I cannot directly import the AI file into the part mode, which is
fine. I opened up the file into a drawing, then saved it back to an
IGES file. Then I created a datum curve from file and used the IGES
file in part mode. That imported fine. Next I went into sketcher and
tried to use edge to create my protrusion....This is where I had some
issues. The process of converting the AI file to IGES broke the logo
into thousands of tiny little segments. I got a similar result when I
tried to bring a dxf file directly into sketcher (data from file).

I am willing to accept that this is just the way it is, but I was hoping
there may be a silver bullet....a magical combination of filetypes that
will allow a clean import. I tried a few of the IGES import/export
settings, but they did not seem to do much.

If there is no easy way, I guess I can always trace the logo in
sketcher.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks...Mike
