Axis Display in Drawing-conclusion

Sorry Folks but I discovered something further on this Axis issue and
don't want to mislead anyone with my incorrect previous message;

It seems Regenerating the drawing or Updating Draft was not the problem,
it was simply not being in the correct tab... you need to be in the
Review Tab to fully adjust both endpoints of an axis. This tab things
gets me all the time... it will take a while to get used to that.

Oddly, while in Annotate mode, I can still select the axis and drag
endpoints, but the results are no good. Wish they didn't even let me
select it if I wasn't in the right mode, like when I am in Layout mode
and I try to drag a dimension, it's a no-go...

Now I don't like the fact that I can drag a dimension around unless I am
in the correct mode, but at least I know that when I am unable to pick a
dimension it's because I need to switch modes.

thanks

Paul

Looks like they re-installed the pro-goofy module again...

I agree with your observations about the ribbon interface in drawings.

If an action on an object is not allowed, we should not be able to
select the object until the correct tab is activated. But now I'm
confused again, weren't we supposed to be using an object-action method?
Wasn't that supposed to be better?

A PTC rep told us at a local user groups meeting last fall that the
commands in the 'Edit' menu are typically object action (since you have
to select something to 'edit') and commands in the 'insert' menu are
typically action object (since there is no object to select yet).

Makes perfect sense once you hear it, but not exactly intuitive. Seems
like a lot of pro/E is that way.

(BTW - Tidbits like this are a great reason that you should be going to
your local user group meetings. Central Ohio is having one in May ...

I waste more time trying to click things that I can’t, because of the ribbon interface in drawings.

Just because Microsoft has it does not make it better!!!

Object-action is the way to go.

Please PTC, let me click on an object in the drawing and have Pro/E give me only the actions that apply to that object. Wow that makes sense.

Done ranting,

As the original post suggested, it doesn't do you any good when you can
select an object, but not be able to do any action on it (or get weird
behavior) until you select the proper tab. It's probably easier for new
users who never are seeing Pro-E for the first time with WF5, and didn't
go through the whole rev 18/19, to 2000i/i^2, 2001, to WF changes.

Yeah, user group meetings are helpful, but if you can't make the
particular one on drawings you may have to wait quite a long time for
the subject to come around again. My local user group (AFAIK) meets
only 2 times per year, I just missed the current meeting. Have to wait
until fall.

FYI, I was at PTC last week for the Creo Beta Event. PTC is changing a lot of the things you don't like about the ribbon interface in Wildfire 5.

They are changing the selection filters to remove most context sensitivity, so most common items will be selectable in any tab.

They have updated the RMB menus to include common commands regardless of tab

And they have improved the customization of the ribbon.

I beat them up on not being able to add to the File tab, where Print and New are.
