Creo and Pro/E have a config option, shown below, that controls the display of reference dimensions in drawings.
I propose this is controlled via Drawing Setup/DTL per drawing - instead of config. The main reason is: CAD Workers produce viewables of drawings, all with the same config file, however some product lines wish to show 'REF', and others wish to show ( ) around reference dimensions. If the option was embedded in each drawing via DTL (like text, arrows, etc) - this would be possible. Currently you must choose one or the other...

encloses reference dimensions in parentheses. if set to no, the reference dimensions are followed with the text "ref."
