Export of selected geometry

Export of selected geometry

Hi Toolkiters,

I faced a problem with the geometry export.

What I need is to export just a couple of preselected faces of a part. Tried to use layers, but this didn't help,

entire part was exported.

Do you have any suggestions how to do this?

Thank you much,

Vlad.

Copy the selected surfaces as a single quilt. Save As an IGES file
selecting the quilt option... I usually select an appropriate coordinate
system too.

This will create and IGES file of just the selected quilt.

Have a good weekend,

I suspect there's no way to export a quilt only.

So, as a workaround, is it possible to copy this quilt to new part and then export it?

Thanks much,

Vlad.

Depends on the type of export I think - if IGES you might want to
check into the export config settings, you might be able to export by
type...  It has been a long time since I have used that...

Let it be IGES, I don't care.

I don't think filtering by type will help, since I may have other surfaces, quilts etc., but wanna export only one.

Regards,

Vlad.

Then copy reference to a new part and export that...

David,

Would you explain this?

Thank you,

Vlad.

Copy geom. Not sure if that is possible with toolkit ( would be a
challenge if it was - visit function, filtering for what you want,
etc).  Might also consider shrink wrap insome way...

David,

Let's consider I already have Copy feature.

I wonder how I can copy it to another part.

Thanks,

Vlad.

You are going to have to read the manual - look for the methods I
mentioned.

Hi all,

There is an example 'Export a Model File to IGES Format 'in Pro/Toolkit user guide. I would try to set ProOutputBrepRepresentationAlloc()to quilts and place solid geometry on blanked layerand ProOutputInclusionFlagsSet() set blanked to false.

If previous would not work then the following approach could be tried:

Build interchange data ProPartToProIntfData(), start a new part with ProSolidCreate(), and useProImportfeatCreate(). There was an example in the manual.I don't remember if ProPartToProIntfData() would allow to control which entity(s) to export. Ifnot thenProIntfDataQuiltAppend could be used tobuild ProIntfData by hand.I think there was an example of this in the manual as well.

If nothing worked one could use a brutal appoach by calling a mapkey or trail file from Pro/Toolkit via ProMacroExecute().

HIH.

Feliks.
