Flat Drawing View

I'm trying to create views similar to the ones shown in this pdf file, in particular view "A-A". I thought there used to be an "unbend" drawing view type but I can't seem to find anything to flatten the views. I'm sure there is a way to make these views I'm just not finding it.

Thanks,

Sam

If this part was made in sheet metal, you could create a flattened state
of your choice, and put it in a family table inside the part. You would
then create your views of a particular flattened instance.

Sam,
This is called an unfolded section view in ProE. I have never succeded in
making one myself as this type seems to always be greyed out when defining
the section view on the drawing. I must be doing something wrong I guess.
If you find out please post a summary.

Can you achieve what you want with an "offset" (sketched cutting
surface) section?

You need to create this in the part; we used to use them for 'unfolded'
sections through several shafts in a gearbox, but we've found them
rather unstable in the drawing so have stopped using them.

The key to using an "unfolded" xsection is to first create the xsection as an Offset cross section.

The next prerequisite to it not being greyed out is that every part of the sketch of the Offset cross section must be a straight line. Then you will be able to choose this type and show it. I think it also must be a new view. You cannot change an existing view to an unfolded xsection for some reason.
