Sheetmetal Twist Wall

The PTC/USER Sheetmetal TC is putting together enahncement suggestions for PTC for the Twist Wall functionality.

Any input to the questions below, or any other Twist Wall input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please send any response directly to me by the end of week (June 6th) so I can consolidate the input and present to PTC next week.

Twist Wall Questions

Start Width of Twist Wall

In the existing tool, the initial width of the Twist Wall is not associated to the length of the attachment edge. Currently, the length of the attachment edge is used as a basis for the Start Width of the Twist wall, but the length is rounded so that it may not exactly match the attachment edge (for example if a weak dimension was used to define the attachment edge), and it is not associated with the length of the attachment edge, so it doesn’t adjust if the attachment edge length changes. Should the Start Width of the Twist wall match the attachment edge exactly? Should it update associatively? Should the user be able to assign a width regardless of attachment edge?

Center of Twist Wall

Currently, the placement of the Twist Wall is driven by the placement of the point that defines the twist axis. The wall is located based on the Start Width being placed symmetrically along the edge on either side of the twist axis. Which ways are most important for us to improve this placement scheme? Is it important to be able to offset the ends of the wall from the ends of the attachment edge, as can be done in Flat and Flange wall? Is it important to be able to easily center the Twist Wall on the attachment edge?

End Width

Is it important to allow an option to keep the End Width equal to the Start Width? For example, if the Start Width is driven by the attachment edge, and that attachment edge length changes, should the user have the option to force the End Width to remain equal to the Start Width? Should this be on or off by default?
