Want to run client only

Hi everyone. I have an really odd question here. We have moved on to
Intralink 9.1 a few months ago. But I need to be able to use the 3.4
client on occasion. (to import files, duplicate, then export, then
import into 9.1. There needs to be no commonspace in 3.4). Yes this is
desparate, but PTC has removed critical functionality, and in my 3 month
long support case they have come up with no answers. This ridiculous
workaround is all that works for now. But the old 3.4 server is being
shut down, and I need to find a new home for it. The new install will
have no data except for a list of 5 users.

Question 1. As far as I know, I need a dataserver just to log into.
Is there a way to use the client workspace without logging into
something?

Question 2. If I do need to install the Intralink Dataserver, I may
have to put it on regular old XP (not "officially" supported but hoping
it can at least dole out a login.) I would prefer this ran on
windows7-64. Anyone ever do this and have it run in compatability mode?

Can you elaborate on what the Ilink 3.4 duplicate does that you can't do in Ilink 9.1? As former
users of Ilink 3.4 now on PDMLink 9.1 M050 we haven't found anything related to duplicate that
you can not do in PDMLink. Different - yes. Missing functionality - no.

Can you duplicate to a name that already exists, with intentions to
overwrite the file?

Not sure if this is exactly what you are trying to do but you can rename to existing names with offline workspaces.

1. Add your model to the workspace

2. Take the workspace offline

3. Duplicate in the workspace to existing names in Windchill. You can do this because workspaces can't perform duplicate names checks when offline.

4. Bring it back online and resolve the errors.

This process works for other companies but you will have to try it to see if it resolves your issue.

Hi Mark,

Yes it works (at least it does in WF3 M250 with Intralink 9.1 M060) - Please see: Save as replace with workspace content per TPI 147439<.">https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=147439>.

After making the change described in the above TPI the process is as follows:

1. In Workspace select object and do File > Save As

2. Change File name and Number of object to an already existing filename

3. Hit Next > Finish

4. The Event Manager opens > Select the "Resolve Conflicts" icon

5. Leave Retry Options for object as "Check Out and Overwrite" (default) > Retry

The objects are now marked Checked Out and Modified in your Workspace - You can then check them in.

Unfortunately this worked great in WF3 M250 but does not work in CreoPro5 M090 - PTC has somehow introduced a bug that causes the event manager to open with the following conflict (I have an open PTC case on this one):

A datastore uniqueness constraint violation has occurred on the following objects.
