We would like to see self transitions in the Workflow diagram.
It is quite important to determine f.e. an end state.
Most users cannot access the Workflow definition and see self transitions.
Even for admin users the actions to see self transitions are quite complicated compared to normal transitions.
We would like to see self transitions like normal transitions.
This was already possible in some older Integrity version (I don't remember the exact version).
I was reviewing this Idea & saw you mention that this capability was present and has been removed from the current version of the Product. I need your help so to ensure I'm not confusing this with something else. I have a link to the latest version of Integrity Help which has a mention of this feature.
I also see the action in the Admin Client Workflows section of a Type.
Are you by anyway suggesting that end users should have this control & they have had this in a previous release of the Product?
Hello @Kartik Oak,
self transitions were and are still possible.
What I was suggesting is that a user can see if a self transition is configured for a state.
In some earlier Integrity version, this was shown by a transition arrow from the state back to the same state.
Here a screenshot from 2005:
Hope that clarifies things.
Best Regards, Stephan
I now understand what you are saying. This feature was removed in Integrity 2007 as it was leading to clutter in the workflow diagram. While there is no plan to bring this feature back, I will keep it open for voting to see if there is genuine interest from other customers.
We kept this Idea open for sometime & there is no new interest from customers who would like to see this functionality make a come back. I will be closing this as No Plans to Implement. That does not mean that we cannot revisit this in the future, if there is interest that gets generated we will revisit the state of the Idea & re-review your request.
As i am working on integrity 10.9 so till that version "self transition" functionality is there you can configure this in your workflow but in upcoming version am not sure about this whether this is there or removed.
Hi Kapil Jain,
as said above, the functionality is still there, but users (non-Admins) don't see if a state has self-transition or not (Integrity Manager, Workflow tab).
I am not sure in which way this (Self Transition) be helpful, Because Currently you are on state A and again you are coming on same state , In history it will be visible. Please tell me more your scenario.
I think the workflow tab should give users an understanding of the workflow.
It is different if you can stay in a state (self-transition) and add comments or additional info or if every change will lead to the next state (plus notifications and other actions).
This could especially be important on end-states that cannot be left any more. If there is no self-transition, the Item is "frozen" and cannot be changed in any way.
With self-transition, the state cannot be left, but you still can add comments.
All this should be transparent to the user and not only to the admin.
E.g. In a document my current state is Open and i want to add something but want to be in same state Open , So normally we can add and its not mandatory to follow the state. Is this you want ?
Taking Your concern if you add Comment so either you replace previous one or append but there is one more better way you can track the history by changing Logging Tab in respected Field. Is this your issue or am going on different track. Kindly correct if i am wrong.
Waiting for your response Stephan.
Thanks and Best Regards,
I am focussing on single Items (bug tracking, change management), not on documents.
A user should be able to see in advance if a target state will be changeable (self-transition), will be "one edit and go on to next state" (no self transition) or will be a frozen end-state.
