I would like to see the possibility in a report to sort the results by fields which are computed fields. At the moment these fields doesnt show in the table in the "Sort by" segment of the reporting wizard.
There is a way to sort computed fields if the fields are defined in administration client and made available for using in the report. Once added as a field then you can choose to include them in sort by fields section in defining the reports.
thanks for your reply. It seems that i forgot to mention in my idea, that my idea is regarding to computations within the report.
As an example: We're using a simple integer field in different items for different reasons. In one item it is used to hold the ID of an issue in Jira, in another items it holds contract numbers. The field is named "XYZ_special_purpose_number".
If we want to use this field in a report, which shows us informations about the items with the contract numbers, we use the computations in the reporting wizard to change the name of this field, because "XYZ_special_purpose_number" doesn't look very well if we have to show the report to the Boss. And in this case it is not possible to use this field for sorting.
Kind regards, Jens
Could you please check and confirm once defined why your field "XYZ_special_purpose_number" is not appearing in "Sort By" section in report. You should be able to see at least XYZ_special_purpose_number field in it and it should get sorted too.
in the following Screenshot you can see a list of ten fields which should be used in a report. Four of them will be manipulated by computations:
And here you can see, that only six fields are available for sorting: None of the manipulated fields is available:
kind regards, Jens
