Undock a docked window in GUI client

Undock a docked window in GUI client

For window dock settings, a viewset is an all or nothing arrangement for a particular window class. If users are using a viewset that is defined to dock item query windows, then all item query windows will be docked. I would like to have an option where users can use such a viewset, yet be able to drag a docked window outside of the main client window to undock/float it. Similarly, drag a floating window into the main client window to dock it. Gestures other than drag/drop (context menu option?) would be fine as well. The workaround today (10.7 client) is for users to temporarily switch viewset to one that is defined to float windows, open the window that they want, then switch viewset back.

Hi Jim,

we in Consulting have created a small Java routine to help out here.

Its called from a custom menu and will open the selected document as floating.

Interested?
