Hello All,
We are moving forward to understand how advanced tags can create value to our DPM and AMU Environment. Lately we have come to the idea that reading the tool life would be beneficial to us.
We are using MTConnect protocol to monitor our Mazak Assets.
Checking with Mazak their MT connect code, does not support the tool life, i would like to know if someone is currently monitorizing this information.

Greetings,
Certainly, we do monitor tool life/tool wear as part of Kepware/DPM/AMU deployments but not 100% of the time, and I cannot personally recall MTConnect agents that have exposed it. Other types of controller protocols - FANUC FOCAS, Sinumerick OPC DA/UA - have had tool life and wear available, but we don't recall specific integrations with MTConnect Agents where they've reliably exposed this value. It doesn't mean they don't, and doesn't mean that the vendor can't modify to include it - but it'll be a conversation with the vendor about: 1) can they add tool life/tool wear into the agent for you, and 2) if not, are there other integrations outside of MTConnect that the vendor is comfortable with you pursuing (maybe the CNC uses FANUC and so you add a FANUC FOCAS driver to your Kepware project for this one data point, for example)

Mohit
