DMIS Version and scanning

Hi people, I'd like to know which version of DMIS Standard is now supported in WF4 CMM application In WF3 DMIS 3.0 was supported. Today DMIS reached the 5.1 version. IN WF4 it's now possible to drive a scanning movements. Anybody has experience with Zeiss Machines? THANKS A LOT Bye Pier

I have 2 Zeiss machines as well, I have been using Calypso but would like to try using Pro/CMM. However, I cannot find any documentation on how to translate the DMIS file. Regards

As a matter of fact you shouldn't need any traslation. Pro/Cmm creates automatically a DMIS file (version 3.0). In the Zeiss machine you need to install a DMIS translator as a plug-in of CALYPSO. With this translator you get the standard Zeiss program. Also Zeiss supports the same version of DMIS (3.0). At the moment I have not yet direct experience with these operations. regards Pier

Well, that's the theory at least. I tried creating a DMIS file in WF4 and bringing it into Calypso. There are discrepencies - for example, Pro outputs an acceleration that Zeiss does not understand. There are more, but I don't remember them all. Anyway, it did not run with the DMIS file I created. Regards

Just in theory I know that ProE and Zeiss don't support the complete list of DMIS standard commands. The point is to check the DMIS commands that both ProE and Zeiss can manage, isn't it ? "Pro outputs an acceleration that Zeiss does not understand " ... but ... Zeiss can't read the file ? there is an error message ? what else ? I appreciate if you could tell me your experience because I'm going to start a new project with an important customer. Thanx.

I'm sorry I cannot shed any more light on this for you, though I would be interested to know your findings. I had a 60 day evaluation license for Pro/CMM which has expired, and we have not 'officially' converted to WF4 from 3 yet (we are waiting for Intralink 3.4 M060). Good luck. Peter
