We have a laser here at work and they have been using dxf files created in AutoCAD to generate cut lists for given sheet sizes. We are now going to be doing it via WF 2.0 and PDM/Link 8.0.
On larger parts they used to scale the drawing title block up so that the part would fit at full scale into it. Now in Pro/E the object gets scaled own to fit in the title block.
HERE'S THE PROBLEM:
When this is converted to a dxf file (that is, when the Pro/E drawing file is converted to dxf) and then viewed in the Laser Programmer's software all the lines have been reduced by whatever the scale on the drawing was.
HERE'S MY QUESTION:
Is there an immediate work around? I do not want to add another oppoortunity for human error to creep in and the have all my parts cut @ 1/4 scale.
I think we are going to be getting NC Sheetmetal in the near term and my understanding is that this will eliminate the need to work w/ dxf's etc. All the tool path planning will be handled by the NC module from PTC. Any comments on this belief?
