SPIRAL HELIX CUT

Has anyone found a way of cutting adepeningspiral helix which replicates the tool profile (which would be a slot drill or end mill cutter.)

I have manufactured the pattened profiles in the attatched snap shot but the width does not represent the cuttersection (say 3mm dia) but the helixends up less about 2.7mm wide??

In the attatchmentis a constant pitch Helical sweep the other option in pro-eng generates what I would call a 5th axis machine profile ???

Regards Grant

Create a curve and use it as your X direction in a variable section sweep.
The sketch does not need to be perpendicular to the direction of the sweep
and so you can sketch a circle (the end of your end mill) and create a
surface. Then do a bit of surfacing to extend the resulting surface (a
strange elliptical shape) to the surface of the cylinder (this may
represent a challenge).
