Well, that was quick. The word on the street is that one must first deselect the "With Preview" option and the cosmetic button will become selectable. Of course, "With Preview" is grayed out unless one or more of the buttons are selected, so it's necessary to first make sure that one of those buttons is selected.
As usual, PTC's solution to this problem is extraordinarily counterintuitive...but at least there is a solution. Thanks to Steve, Walt, and Adam for the answer here.
(Oh, and thanks to all you Out of Office people for making sure I can get in touch with someone else if there is an emergency. You folks are great.)
