constant load helical ramp

Hi all
I'm trying to create a constant load sequence and cannot for the life of
me get the cutter to helical ramp in on the initial cut.
What is wrong here?
When I change the sequence to type spiral it works well.

Hi Tony
Yes I have all these options set and they work well with type spiral or
any other scan type except for constant load.
Have you managed to get constant load to ramp????

Mill/Turn merging Post strategyHi Leigh,

For Constant load, make sure to set RAMP_ANGLE to a value other than the
default 90 deg. Also, helical_dia controls how wide a helical entry move to
use (I think it uses a default of twice step_over if you don't set it).

Also, a confusion might be that the approach is not really a helical entry.
Notice that the move is a spline that is tangent to both the plunge move and
the cut move to get a continuous toolpath there. It may be that you have
tight step_over or step_depth so you are not seeing much unless you change
it from 90 degrees.

For this type of spline approach, since it is not a constant helix,
ramp_angle means that the spline starts over at 90 degrees when it comes
from the plunge move, and gradually gets shallower until it reach the angle
specified in ramp_angle when it hits the material (usually step_depth value
above the slice).

I hope this helps,

Charles

Hi All,

I have finally managed to track my problem with no helical ramp in
constant load.
I found that you have to have the corner_ round _ radius parameter set
to a dash _ or a radius value.
We had our parameter defaulting to 0 which was our problem.
